On the influence of Bauhaus on modern design

王翔宇(Wang Xiangyu)

Abstract

Bauhaus, the world’s first art college established solely for the development of design education, was founded in Germany in 1919. Although this specialized design school existed for only a brief decade, it profoundly influenced the direction of design development throughout the world. In the early 20th century, Bauhaus gradually entered the vision of the Chinese art circle as the scope and pattern of Chinese art broadened, attracting widespread attention. With the integration of Bauhaus ideas with architecture, new technologies, and new materials, it has exerted a profound influence on modern design in China.
